Cars without a credit check: what’s real?
Short answer
“No credit check” usually means the provider doesn’t decide on your credit score alone, not that they check nothing. Responsible rent-to-own providers still check your income and affordability from bank statements. Be careful with anyone who checks nothing at all: they often make up for the risk with high prices, big fees or fast repossession.
What gets checked instead
- Your income: payslips or 3–6 months of bank statements
- Your fixed costs and existing debit orders
- Whether the weekly amount leaves you enough to live on
- Your ID, licence and address
Red flags
- No questions about your income at all
- Pressure to pay a fee before you see the contract
- No written full price
- A balloon payment at the end
