We asked drivers what was left at the end of the week. The answer was R165.
Rent-to-own was meant to get hard-working people on the road and into ownership. Then the weekly amounts went up, the small print got longer, and the people doing the driving were left with almost nothing. Drivers told us straight: “there’s no margin left.”
So we built YeboAuto backwards. We start with what you need to keep each week, then set the price. We show where every rand goes. And we put the promises in the contract.

Honest maths
Most rent-to-own deals leave drivers with R165 a week.
That’s what’s left after commission, fuel and a typical R4,000 weekly payment. Before you sign anything, with anyone, put in your own numbers.
Assumes petrol at R22.50/l, ~22 km per driving hour (car 5.2 l/100 km) and ~5 km per delivery (bike 2.4 l/100 km), plus data and car wash. “Typical rent-to-own” = R4,000/week, the 2026 average reported by FleetCalc. Change the sliders to your real numbers.

We read every complaint about rent-to-own in South Africa: surprise fees, balloon payments, cars stuck at the workshop while the debit order keeps running. Then we wrote the opposite into our deal.
Every rand, upfront
Weekly amount, deposit, term, the price to buy it at the end, and where every rand goes: the vehicle, insurance, service, licence and our margin. Your price card is locked in writing for 7 days.
No balloon: a small, fixed buy price
At the end you can buy the vehicle for a fixed price written into your agreement on day one: R5,000 for a car, R500 for a bike. No R40,000 surprise.
Buy it early if you want
Had a good season? Ask for an early buy-out quote and own it before the term ends. Most rent-to-own deals make you sit out the full contract.
Unlimited km for drivers & riders
Drivers do 1,200 km a week. We don’t cap the kilometres you earn with.
Off the road? Your week is on us
If a repair takes more than 24 hours, you get a loan vehicle or that week is free. Never pay for a car or bike you can’t earn with.
Bad-week pause
Can’t pay one week? WhatsApp us that day. Once a year you can move one payment to the end of your term, no penalty, no fight.
Road-legal from day one
PrDP and operating-licence help for e-hailing, the right insurance cover, and the papers in your hands for every roadblock.

Rent-to-own in South Africa has a trust problem: balloon payments, cars stuck at the workshop while the debit order runs, bans on e-hailing. Here’s how we’re different, in writing.

FAQ
Rent-to-own, explained simply
What is rent-to-own?
You rent a car or bike from YeboAuto for a fixed weekly amount for a set term, with the option to buy it at the end for a small fixed price (R5,000 for a car, R500 for a bike). It is a rental agreement, not vehicle finance or a loan. There is no balloon payment.
Can I get a car if I am blacklisted or under debt review?
Yes. Rent-to-own is a rental agreement, not a new loan. We look at your income and what you can afford each week, not only your credit record.
How much does rent-to-own cost in South Africa?
In 2026 rent-to-own e-hailing cars cost about R2,500–R3,800 a week and delivery bikes about R650–R1,250 a week. YeboAuto shows the weekly amount, the deposit, the term and the full total for every vehicle before you apply.
Can I use the car for Uber or Bolt?
Yes. Our e-hailing cars come with e-hailing insurance cover, unlimited kilometres and help with your PrDP and operating licence. Many rent-to-own companies do not allow e-hailing at all.
Do foreign nationals qualify?
Yes, if you have a valid passport and a permit that allows you to work in South Africa. This applies to delivery bikes and e-hailing cars.
What happens if my car breaks down?
Roadside assistance is included. If the vehicle is in our workshop for more than 48 hours, you get a courtesy vehicle or that week is free.
Can I buy it early?
Yes. Ask us for an early buy-out quote at any time during the rental.
How fast can I start driving?
You get a first answer in about 60 seconds on our site, a full answer within 24 hours, and most approved drivers collect within 2–5 working days.
